Patricia May Oucharek

November 25, 1945 – January 28, 2026

Hamilton, ON – Patricia May Oucharek (née Smith), age 82, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on January 28, 2026.

She was a devoted wife to Albert for 54 years, and proud mother to Bert (Kelly) and Wesley (Tricia), and a loving “Grey Gramma” to Grace, Ella, Ezra, and Jake, and grandcats, Gene and Louise. Born in Simcoe, Pat was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Verna; and her brother, Monte. She is survived by her brother, Wayne (Mary); sister-in-law, Marg; and her dear friend, Shirley.

She built a life defined by care, creativity, and quiet strength. Pat had a gift for making things, and for making people feel loved. With a needle and thread in hand, there was nothing she couldn’t mend, and no scrap of fabric she couldn’t turn into something beautiful. Quilting was her specialty, and many were lucky to receive a handmade gift with love poured into every stitch. She delighted in gardening, baking, and trying out new recipes on her willing (and sometimes adventurous) family taste-testers. As a young girl Pat loved to fish with her family, and she carried on the tradition, making fishing trips with her own family their go-to vacation, where she often caught the biggest fish. She worked for many years at National Trust/Scotiabank and was a member of Linden Park Community Church where she enjoyed the choir and quilting club.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday March 28th, 2026 from 1-4pm at the Waterfront Conference and Banquet Centre at 555 Bay St N. This will be a drop-in event with an open time of sharing at 2pm. Light refreshments will be served. There wasn’t a colour or pattern Pat didn’t like, so feel free to reflect that in your attire that day.
