Henry Wade “Doc” Brown
Henry Wade “Doc” Brown, 73, passed away on August 3, 2026 at his home in Waterloo, Ontario
from heart disease.
Doc was born in Nova Scotia on June 6, 1953 to “Millie” Marie Emilie Brown and Arnold Harry Brown
and was raised in Stouffville, Ontario. He lived most of his life in York and Durham Regions in
Ontario, until he moved to Waterloo to be close to his daughter in 2022.
Doc married Nelda “Faye” Norton (July 1972) and they had one child (Jaime Lee Brown) in 1979.
Doc completed his certification in Auto Body and Collision Damage Repair at George Brown
College and worked as an automotive technician his whole career where he made many close, life-
long friends. Early in his career, he owned and operated Doc Brown Auto in Uxbridge, Ontario.
Doc was passionate about music. He was a talented singer, songwriter, and guitar player, and
enjoyed recording and producing music. He was self-taught with a natural ear for music. During his
retirement, he enjoyed learning to play piano. He provided guitar lessons to many children and
adults throughout his life. Through his childhood and teen years in Stouffville, he played guitar and
sang in a band with his father, Arnold, and some of his siblings. He played in various bands with his
friends throughout his teen years. In the 1970s, he started a band with his wife, “Doc and Faye,” and
enjoyed success on country radio charts. Doc continued to write, perform, and record music
throughout his life. He routinely performed at local bars in Uxbridge and Stouffville throughout the
1980s and 90s, and later in life, enjoyed performing and recording with his daughter, Jaime.
Doc suffered from chronic pain and significant mobility and respiratory challenges associated with
arthritis and inflammatory illnesses, COPD, and heart disease. His family is grateful for the team of
physicians and community health professionals who supported him.
Doc is dearly missed by his daughter and caregiver, Jaime Lee Brown (Andrew Calder), and by his
siblings, Dorothy Boake (the late Ron Boake), Toney (Colleen) Brown, Brent Brown, Duane Brown,
many nieces and nephews, and his grand-dog, Mitch. He is predeceased by his wife, Nelda “Faye”
Brown (1953-2019), his parents, and his brothers, Louie Brown and Aaron Brown.
As per Doc’s wishes, there will be no formal service. A memorial celebration of Doc will be held at
the Claremont Legion on August 23, 2026 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Doc’s family
would appreciate memorial donations made to the Canadian Lung Association, the Heart and
Stroke Foundation of Canada, or a charitable program in your community that helps connect kids,
adults, or seniors to music.
